Dis-location is the brain child of Amanda Champness, it has been a burgeoning idea, since the Eastbourne Festivals opening in (2008), when the first exhibition; A question to question... occurred as an open house. This however didn't feel like the best location for contemporary Fine Art. So The Dark Lantern Players were formed, a small group of artists who put on The Little Basement of Old and New Stories. This took place in an unused shop and was a one night only event, with a piece of performance art to set the mood. However The Dark Lantern Players weren't quite right either.
Therefore in 2010 the solution was found and a concept evolved: and the Festival saw the launch of the new gallery Dis-location, a gallery with no fixed abode. Each year a new vacant space is taken over to showcase contemporary Fine Art by different participating artists. Each show will be unique but governed by an innovative theme, reflective of the work produced by its members. Each year developing and gaining momentum, then hopefully always giving an event to look forward to.
We are also hoping to find new talent each year to participate in the exhibitions. If you would like to be considered for a future festival please email a CV and cover letter to: info@dis-location.co.uk
